The Strength That Sheltered Us
Every morning, when my father woke us, he would ask, “Did you sleep well?”
A simple question, but it held so much care. Before the day began, he wanted to know that we had rested, that we were comfortable, that we were well.
When I think of him, I think of wood: the strength of a trunk, the shelter of branches, the warmth of a home. A tree can stand firm and still offer shade. That is how I remember my father—courageous and dependable, with a gentleness that made his strength feel safe.
He was our provider and protector. His kindness was woven into the ordinary rhythms of our lives, including that question he asked each morning.
I created OSISI to express both his strength and his softness. Grounded woods give the fragrance its backbone; flowers soften its heart. Together, they are my tribute to a good man whose care continues to shape me.
