What the Air Remembers
Some memories return through the air. Others stay close to the skin.
For me, childhood holds both: the familiar scent of powder on our skin, and the change in the breeze when the first rains arrived after harmattan. Mango leaves moving, the heat beginning to break, the feeling of a new season approaching.
I created IKUKU to bring those memories together. Orris root represents that childhood powder—soft, familiar, immediately recognizable. Tuberose and ylang ylang give the composition its floral heart, while ambrette and vanilla lend warmth.
IKUKU holds the atmosphere of those years: the seasons around us, the small rituals of care, and the scents that became part of everyday life.
